TORONTO - John Hufnagel, who guided the Calgary Stampeders to the CFLs best regular-season record and a Grey Cup title, was named a finalist for the CFLs coach-of-the-year honour Wednesday.Tom Higgins of the Montreal Alouettes and Chris Jones of the Edmonton Eskimos are the other finalists. The award winner will receive the Annis Stukus Trophy on Jan. 21 in Winnipeg.Voting was conducted by 65 members of the Football Reporters of Canada.Calgary finished atop the West Division with a 15-3 record under Hufnagel, also the clubs general manager. After dispatching Edmonton 43-18 in the conference final, the Stampeders capped their season with a 20-16 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Grey Cup at B.C. Place Stadium. This marks the fourth time Hufnagel has been nominated for the award. He won it in 08 after leading Calgary to a Grey Cup crown. He and Wally Buono, currently the B.C. Lions general manager and vice-president of football operations, are the only coaches to lead the Stampeders to multiple championships.Hufnagel improved his CFL coaching record to 88-37-1, moving him into 11th on the leagues all-time list. His career winning percentage of .702 is tops among coaches with at least 100 career appearances on the sidelines.I thank the players, coaches and staff of the Stampeders for their contributions to our successful season, Hufnagel said in a statement. The Grey Cup championship was a team effort and my nomination for the Annis Stukus Trophy is a reflection of the great people we have throughout our organization on and off the field.I also congratulate Tom and Chris for their excellent coaching work and their teams success during the 2014 season.Jones is a first-time award nominee after leading Edmonton to a 12-6 record and second in the West Division in his first season as head coach. After posting a 4-14 record in 2013, the Eskimos recorded the biggest turnaround of any CFL team last season.Edmonton beat Saskatchewan 18-10 in the West Division semifinal before ending its season with a loss in the conference final against Calgary. Jones is attempting to become the fifth Eskimos coach to win the award, joining Ray Jauch (1970), Hugh Campbell (1979), Ron Lancaster (96) and Higgins (03).Montreal orchestrated an amazing turnaround in Higgins first year as head coach. The Alouettes began the season 1-7 but finished by winning eight of their last 10 regular-season contests to finish second in the East Division with a 9-9 record.Montreal became the first team in CFL history to fall six games below .500 and still finish at that mark or better. After dispatching B.C. 50-17 in the East Division semifinal, the Alouettes lost 40-24 to Hamilton in the conference final.Any time you receive this type of nomination, it is a reflection of all the work the team and the organization has put in, Higgins said in a statement. I am flattered to be nominated and I accept it on behalf of the entire Alouettes organization.Higgins is a two-time recipient of the award, also winning in 05 with Calgary. Hes looking to become the fifth Montreal coach to earn the honour. The others include Marv Levy (1974), Charlie Taaffe (1999-2000), Don Matthews (2002) and Marc Trestman (09). With the Rangers already leading 2-0, Carey Price was taken down early in the second period of New Yorks 7-2 pounding of the Canadiens in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final on Saturday afternoon. http://www.magicauthenticshop.com/Authentic-Shaquille-ONeal-Magic-Jersey/. "For the past several weeks, Logan has been dealing and playing with an upper body injury," said general manager Doug Wilson in a statement. "Despite his efforts to play through it, the injury has not responded as we had hoped and Logan has made the decision to undergo a surgical procedure to repair the problem. Mario Hezonja Jersey . At quarterback, all agree that Andy Dalton has been a wonderful surprise, but to truly progress he has to play his best in the playoffs. The two losses in the wildcard rounds keep the evaluation on Dalton open -- just like it did for Peyton Manning many years ago and Matt Ryan until last year. Evan Fournier Jersey . Inter Milan ended its five-match winless streak in all competitions by beating 10-man Bologna 3-1 on new manager Claudio Ranieris debut, while injury-plagued AC Milan edged Cesena 1-0 with an early goal from Clarence Seedorf.BOSTON -- Jason Kipnis delivered three singles for the Cleveland Indians, and then he helped them out with his glove. The Indians second baseman snagged a hard-hit grounder from Red Sox slugger David Ortiz to start an eighth-inning double play. Instead of facing a late Boston rally, the Indians held on for a 3-2 victory on Saturday that snapped a four-game losing streak. "He hit it pretty hard," Kipnis said. "You guys know as well as I do: Youve got some time with him going down the line. All he has to do is jog, with most of his hits." Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Brantley each had a pair of hits for Cleveland, which had lost eight of its past nine games at Fenway Park. The Indians scored two runs in the seventh to take the lead on an error by catcher A.J. Pierzynski and a bases-loaded walk. "Were going to have to win some games like that," said Cleveland manager Terry Francona, whose team stranded 13 base runners and went 0 for 11 with runners in scoring position. John Axford (2-3) earned the win with one scoreless inning in relief of T.J. House, and Cody Allen pitched the ninth for his seventh save. Craig Breslow (2-2) took the loss, allowing two unearned runs and two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning. Boston starter Jake Peavy left with a 2-1 lead but remains winless in his past nine starts. "You just try to do what you can do to win," said Peavy, who entered the game with the second-lowest run support in the AL. "Obviously, its been tough to score on my day, thats something Im not going to shy away from. Im not blaming anyone. I have to be better. Guys have to find a way to be better on my day to win. Its frustrating, no doubt. At the end of the day its frustrating to lose." The Red Sox ledd 2-1 when Breslow relieved Peavy to start the seventh.dddddddddddd Cabrera hit a grounder behind second base that shortstop Jonathan Herrera grabbed with a diving stop, but his throw to first short-hopped Mike Napoli and popped off the heel of his glove. Michael Brantley singled to right, then second baseman Dustin Pedroia tried to come home on Kipnis grounder but Pierzynski couldnt come up with the ball. Home plate umpire Sean Barber initially signalled out, but changed the call when he saw the ball rolling in the dirt. "You cant second-guess that," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "Thats a good, aggressive defensive play. Then unfortunately we started to nitpick a little bit on the outside of the strike zone." Two outs later, David Murphy walked to load the bases and, after Junichi Tazawa relieved Breslow, Carlos Santana walked in the go-ahead run to make it 3-2. Jonny Gomes and Brock Holt had two hits apiece for the Red Sox, who scored a season-high 10 runs on Friday night. Boston had won seven in a row at home. Ortiz doubled in a run in the first inning for Boston. It was his 422nd career double in a Red Sox uniform, tying Wade Boggs for fourth on the teams all-time list. NOTES: Peavy is 0-4 with a 5.46 ERA in his past nine starts. ... Red Sox SS Stephen Drew missed his sixth straight game with a right side muscle injury. Farrell said he will be available on Sunday. ... RHP Clay Buchholz (right knee) OF Shane Victorino (right hamstring) and 3B Will Middlebrooks (right index finger) all made rehab appearances for Triple-A Pawtucket. ... Francona, who led the Red Sox to the 2004 and 07 World Series titles, got a big cheer when he came out to check on Michael Bourn after his third-inning single.
